Cycling Cafe celebrate ladies only cycle ride!
The sun came out in Graveney on Sunday 12 June when over 200 women of all ages and cycling abilities rode together to raise vital funds for the East Kent based Pilgrims Hospices.
The Freewheel Cycling Cafe was approached last year by Pilgrims Hospices to see if we would like to come on board as a sponsor and host the Divas on Wheels amazing ‘ladies only’ cycling event. We jumped at the chance as not only is cycling our passion but we also know many people who have benefited from the superb services providing by the Pilgrims Hospices.
It has been a busy but enjoyable few months working with Deborah Kellond and her team at the Pilgrims, organising the fun programme of activities to get the cyclists fit and ready to take on the challenge and also to build the Divas Village! With over 40 volunteers on the day the Freewheel was certainly buzzing with excitement as all the careful planning and preparation was brought to fruition.
A huge thank you goes out to all the riders, all the bike heroes, the medical teams, all the volunteers, all the stallholders, Jazz Omnibus, the Pilgrims Hospice Team, the Cycling Age Ladies and The Freewheel team for making it such a great event with a smashing atmosphere and lots of funds raised. Sponsorship money is still filtering in, but so far delighted to say over £8,500 has been received.
Here’s just a few pictures taken by photographer Jodi Hanagan who took hundreds of fantastic photographs, really capturing the atmosphere both on the road and back at the cycling cafe. You can view all the Divas pictures here http://www.jodihanaganphotography.com/p882055945
